With the addition of 10,500 jobs in December, unemployment in the manufacturing sector declined to 2.9% from 3.4% the previous month – the lowest level since December 2017. The Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) fell to 56.5 from 57.2. The manufacturing sector remained in a good state, posting its 18th-straight month of expansion.
