10 years since the Rana Plaza disaster: Take action for a law to stop human rights abuse by Canadian companies

April 24, 2023

April 24th marks the 10th anniversary of the Rana Plaza factory collapse in Bangladesh, which killed over 1,130 people and injured 2,500 others– the vast majority of whom were women. Canadian brands and importers sourced from the factory. To this day, Canadian companies and companies importing goods into Canada continue to be linked to serious violations of workers’ rights around the world.

Nearly 10 years since the Rana Plaza disaster, Canada still has no laws to effectively prevent human rights abuses in Canadian supply chains.

It can’t wait another 10 years. Sign our petition by April 24th to call on Canada to finally pass a law requiring Canadian companies, and companies importing goods into Canada, to respect human rights throughout their supply chains: https://cnca-rcrce.ca/take-action/hredd-petition/. You can also help by retweeting the petition.

Then join the Steelworkers Humanity Fund and The Canadian Network on Corporate Accountability (CNCA) on Monday, April 24, 12:00-1:00pm at our Rally in Phillips Square (Montreal).
