Re: District 3 Conference – Meetings, Caucuses and Registration
I write to remind local unions to submit their delegate registrations for the District 3 Conference “Better Work for Everyone,” taking place October 28-31, 2024, in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
When selecting your delegates, please consider members who can participate in District 3 caucuses and committee meetings. On October 28, there are committee meetings for Women of Steel, Veterans of Steel, and Human Rights.
There will be caucuses during the conference for racialized workers, Steel Pride/2SLGBTQIA+, Young Workers, Accessibility (Persons with Disabilities) and Indigenous workers.
In addition to committee meetings and caucuses, Sectoral meetings for the steel and mining/smelting sectors will occur after the conference concludes on October 31, 2024. The USW Wood Council will have its one-day conference on October 28.
Registration is online at usw.ca/d3conference. The early bird deadline is July 12, 2024. Please register before the deadline to save money on registration fees.
Finally, we are seeking nominations for Outstanding Service Awards. These awards are for local union activists who have shown exceptional dedication and commitment and deserve to be honoured. The nomination deadline for Outstanding Service Awards is August 16, 2024. Nominations can be submitted online at usw.ca/d3conference-awards.
