October 11, 2026
Alberta Referendum

Alberta’s future is on the ballot and Steelworkers have a choice to make.

We need solutions, not scapegoats. Leadership, not chaos. Our focus should be on strengthening health care, making life more affordable, protecting good jobs and building a better future for working families.

That’s why the United Steelworkers union is encouraging members across Alberta to vote to REMAIN in Canada and vote NO to the nine referendum questions.

Advance voting takes place October 13–17!

You can vote at any advance voting location within your electoral district. Find your nearest location at Elections Alberta.

Can’t make it to advance voting? Referendum Day is Monday, October 19, with polls open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. You’ll need to vote at your assigned polling location.

Remember: You have the right to time off to vote. Eligible workers are entitled to three consecutive hours free from work during voting hours. If your schedule doesn’t allow this, your employer must provide the necessary paid time off.
