Advance voting starts tomorrow and Steelworkers have an important choice to make in B.C.’s provincial election.
The United Steelworkers union represents more than 30,000 workers across B.C. in forestry, mining, manufacturing, telecommunications, retail and services. We know that behind every government decision are workers, families and communities counting on a secure future.
This election is about protecting what matters to working people.
We need a government that will:
- Protect forestry jobs and communities by securing a reliable timber supply and keeping mills operating.
- Put mining workers first with stronger workplace safety, worker-led training and more good union jobs in B.C.
- Buy Canadian and keep jobs here by using public dollars to support Canadian steel, B.C. wood and local workers.
- Strengthen workers’ rights by making it easier to join a union, negotiate a fair first contract and protect wages and benefits.
These are the commitments USW is asking candidates to make, and deliver on, once elected. Only BC NDP candidates are stepping up to support union workers.
The BC NDP has put forward strong commitments on these important issues:
Advance voting runs October 16–21!
