Opportunity: Short-term Co-ordinator District 3 Steelworker Summer

USW District 3 is seeking a short-term position to co-ordinate our Steelworker Summer program. Our Steelworker Summer program brings in children of Steelworkers for a paid internship to learn about the labour movement and about the United Steelworkers union.

Date of term: June/July 2026

Duties will include:

  • Review applications and interview candidates.
  • Ensure that student paperwork and payroll information is received.
  • Support interns and locals by assessing interns and developing individual work plans for participants.
  • Work the staff and locals to schedule student placement and timing.
  • Set up and support meetings (zoom) to connect students.
  • Set up reporting system for summer students.

Applicants should have:

  • An understanding of labour education.
  • Experience working with youth.
  • Capacity to work within a budget.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.

This is a short-term project and will run in June and July 2026. Steelworkers in District 3 are encouraged to apply.
