2026 marks the 40th anniversary of the Steelworkers Humanity Fund (SHF)!
The SHF was officially incorporated in 1986 as the United Steelworkers union’s tool to contribute to positive social change in our communities and around the world. Today, the SHF continues supporting union partners in Canada and around the world, and remains an active part of USW’s member education, engagement and advocacy on issues affecting workers globally.
We are pleased to invite you to an event celebrating this important milestone on Friday, June 26, 2026, at the Steelworkers Hall at 25 Cecil Street, Toronto. We hope you will join us to reflect together on the role that the SHF has played, the importance of international labour solidarity, and the contributions of this unique organization.
The event will be split into two parts:
- 1-5 p.m.: Collective reflection on the SHF’s history, its role within the labour movement to date, and the future of international solidarity. We invite you to join us for a series of panels, workshops, and discussions addressing these themes.
5 to 7 p.m.: Dinner will be served for participants in the afternoon activity
- 7-10 p.m.: Celebration! We will have music, cake, a cash bar, dancing, and a chance to connect with SHF friends and allies from across its history. If you can’t make it to the afternoon events, we would be glad to see you for the evening celebration.
All events will be held at the United Steelworkers Hall at 25 Cecil Street, Toronto, Ontario. The building is fully wheelchair accessible. Paid parking is available nearby. The events will be bilingual with French-English interpretation provided throughout.
