Fundraiser in support of the Steelworkers Humanity Fund and their work with containers 4 Cuba

The USW Local 7536 NextGen Committee, with the funding of the USW Family & Community Education Fund is organizing the 5th Steelworkers Basketball Classic, an event that highlights the important role of team sports and teamwork in union activism while promoting healthy living and wellness.

Last year’s event brought together five trade unions and organizations, representing 13 independent locals, and featured a memorable moment with second-generation players, including parents playing alongside their children.

Funds raised through this year’s event will help support the Steelworkers Humanity Fund and its partnership with Containers 4 Cuba, an initiative that provides life-saving medical supplies to the Cuban people.

Unions, locals, and organizations are invited to support the $500 for Cuba campaign. Smaller contributions also also welcome.

Every dollar will be matched by the Steelworkers Humanity Fund up to $10,000.

The event is free to attend and will also feature a youth basketball workshop after the game, with the first 30 participants receiving SBC 5 T-shirts.

For more information, or to register for the game or the basketball workshop, contact the organizers at: Steelworkersclassic@gmail.com
