Important Steelworkers Vote information and upcoming deadlines

The B.C. and Saskatchewan elections are quickly approaching and so are the deadlines to register members for upcoming Steelworkers Vote schools.

Deadlines:
Thurs., Aug. 29 for B.C. Advanced SWV Member Outreach (Sept 23-27)
Thurs, Sept. 5 for Regina SWV Activist Training (Oct 7-11)
Thurs., Sept. 12 for Langley & Burnaby SWV Activist Trainings (Oct 15-19)
Thurs., Sept. 19 for Saskatoon SWV Activist Training (Oct 21-25)

Please register members at http://usw.ca/2024steelvotes/ as soon as possible as we may not be able to guarantee hotel rooms in our negotiated room blocks after the deadlines.

Alberta members are invited to attend SWV training in B.C. or Saskatchewan, and Manitoba members are invited to attend SWV training in Saskatchewan.

Call for Steelworkers Vote co-ordinators:

USW District 3 is looking to book off two Steelworkers Vote co-ordinators for four weeks during the B.C. and Saskatchewan elections. One member to be based in B.C. from Sept. 23-Oct. 18 and one member to be based in Saskatchewan from Sept. 30-Oct. 25. Interested members should express interest by Fri., July 26.

The Steelworkers Vote co-ordinators will be responsible for local union outreach, meeting with locals and staff reps, identifying potential volunteers and supporters, coordinating and supporting texting and labour canvasses, coordinating USW events for candidates, and developing a get-out-the-USW-vote (GOTV) plan.
