Anti-Asian racism is on the rise across Canada. Canadians of Asian ancestry or who appear Asian are being physically and verbally attacked by people who (mistakenly) blame them for the pandemic. A new website—Fight COVID Racism—is a way for individuals to share their experiences of racism. Entries can be made in English, French, and Chinese (simplified and traditional).
The website has been created by the Chinese Canadian National Council, the Chinese Canadian National Council of Social Justice, the Chinese and Southeast Asian Legal Clinic, and the Civic Engagement Network Society of Canada. These organizations will use the data to track instances of Anti-Asian racism during COVID-19 and plan for collective action. The site also provides links to resources and support.
