Health and safety regulations or laws in all provinces, territories and the federal jurisdiction make some reference to hygiene facilities in the workplace. Some are better than others in setting out clear rights for workers.

Federal

Summary
The Canada Occupational Health and Safety Regulations cover requirements for Toilet Rooms at section 9.12, Wash Basins at section 9.18, Showers and Shower Rooms at section 9.23, Change Rooms at section 9.43, all under Part IX: Sanitation.

Summary

Summary
Ontario does not have one regulation which covers general requirements for hygiene facilities. Some industries are covered by specific regulations under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
The Industrial Establishments regulation covers requirements for Showers at section 134.
The Construction Projects regulation covers requirements for Toilets at section 29.1.
The Mines and Mining Plant regulation covers requirements for Toilets at sections 276–277 and Showers and Change Rooms at section 278.
The Health Care and Residential Facilities regulation covers requirements for Hygiene Facilities at sections 28–32.
