For 40 years and counting, the Steelworkers Humanity Fund (SHF) has been one of the crucial ways that Steelworkers have given themselves to put their solidarity into action for workers and communities in Canada and around the world.

This special 40th anniversary report looks back on four decades of collective action and the people, partnerships, and principles that have shaped the SHF’s work. It highlights the impact of 40 years of initiatives across a wide range of areas, from emergency relief to worker-to-worker solidarity in global supply chains, sustainable development, women’s rights and Canadian programs. Above all, it showcases Steelworkers members’ enduring commitment to social justice.

As we celebrate this milestone, we also look ahead. In a world facing growing inequality, conflict, and climate-related crises, the need for solidarity has never been greater.
