2026 Alberta Referendum

Tomorrow, October 19, is Referendum Day in Alberta. Your vote matters!

Steelworkers know that our province needs solutions, not scapegoats. Leadership, not chaos. We need governments focused on strengthening health care, making life more affordable, protecting good jobs and building a better future for working families.

That’s why the United Steelworkers union is calling on members across Alberta to vote to REMAIN in Canada and vote NO to the nine referendum questions.

Here’s what you need to know to vote tomorrow:

When: Monday, October 19, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Where: You must vote at your assigned polling location. Find yours at Elections Alberta.

What to bring: Accepted identification showing your name and current address.

Remember: You have the right to time off to vote. Eligible workers are entitled to three consecutive non-work hours during voting hours. If your schedule doesn’t allow this, your employer must provide the necessary paid time off.

This is our opportunity to send a clear message to Premier Danielle Smith that Alberta’s future is stronger when we stand together, protect good jobs and focus on the issues that matter to working families.

Learn more about what’s at stake and why Steelworkers are voting NO to the nine at usw.ca/alberta.

Vote REMAIN. Vote NO to the nine.

In solidarity,

Scott Lunny
USW District 3 Director
