USW Cares: Southwestern Ontario Steelworkers Join Forces for the Community

October 28, 2016

With the holidays around the corner, members of the Steelworkers Southwestern Ontario Area Council are getting to work early.

The Area Council put out a call to all USW locals in Southwestern Ontario to support the second Holiday Toy Drive. Locals collected toys and brought them to a recent Area Council meeting for distribution to children of families in need during the holiday season.

Gift cards and monetary donations were added, and will be used to shop on behalf of families at women’s shelters and several community outreach centres in Southwestern Ontario.

The next call for the Area Council will be a peanut butter and jelly jam drive. This is to stock the shelves and pantries at local food banks.
