USW Supports Team Unite the CLC!

March 17, 2021

The United Steelworkers union is calling on local union leaders to send delegates to the upcoming online Canadian Labour Congress Convention – June 16-18

We are counting on a strong USW delegation so we can vote together for the next team of CLC leaders. We know there is a team of strong, dedicated and experienced, change-minded leaders running for the leadership with Team Unite CLC. Bea Bruske is running for President, Lily Chang is running for Secretary-Treasurer and Siobhan Vipond is running for Executive Vice-President.

Sending a large USW delegation is also our opportunity to speak to and vote on the important resolutions that will be debated at convention, determining the CLC’s future direction, including how future leadership races are decided.

Improving Democracy at the Canadian Labour Congress (CLC)

At this convention, we have the chance to vote for real reform to the CLC Constitution and to make the congress into a house of labour that is fairer and more representative for all working people. Instead of a system of credentials based on an affiliate’s number of locals, we have been advocating for years for a system of credentials based on the number of members – a system that mirrors how we run our own USW International Convention.

Let’s show our commitment to a united labour movement by sending a large delegation of Steelworkers

Please note: while Convention runs from June 16-18, equity caucuses will take place on June 15 throughout the day.
